In the name of a revered community labor leader, officials and leaders broke ground Friday, June 2, on a new affordable housing community soon to house Montebello families in need. The development, Vista de J.J. Rodriguez, named after J.J. Rodriguez — known as a pioneer for his civil rights advocacy and work on behalf of labor in Southern California — will contain 63 units for low-income families, including supportive units for survivors of domestic violence and those experiencing homelessness.
